There are a few things to consider before an installation
THE SUBFLOOR
Just like a house cannot be built on sand, a wood floor needs a good foundation. Subfloor preparation is the most important stage in achieving a quality and long-lasting finish and helps to prolong the life of your new floor.
Before any installation, we will:
- Carry out an inspection of the existing subfloor to ensure it is sound and level
- Check moisture and humidity readings and take action if required
- Take accurate measurements to ensure a precise fit
INSTALLATION METHOD
There three main installation methods for wood floors. We will always advise on the most suitable option for your property and flooring type.
- Glue down – adhering the wood floor directly to the sub floor
- Secret nailed – nailing through the tongue of the board making the nails invisible once the floor is complete
- Floated – laying the wood floor over a layer of suitable underlay
Finishing your wood floor
Wood floors arrive either pre-finished or un-finished.
- Pre-finished floors come already treated with your chosen finish
- Un-finished are installed first and then finished on site by our team
